At the "Chery Battery Night 2026" event on March 18, Chery Automobile announced significant progress in its all-solid-state battery technology. The company has successfully prototyped solid-state cells with energy densities of 400 Wh/kg and 600 Wh/kg. The latter utilizes an in-situ polymerized electrolyte combined with a lithium-rich manganese-based cathode material, enabling a driving range exceeding 1,500 kilometers. This advanced battery is scheduled for its debut validation in the Exeed ES8 model in 2027. Chery emphasized its commitment to all-solid-state battery development, stating it would invest "without limits." Additionally, Chery will launch three new models: the Exeed ES equipped with a liquid-state battery dubbed "Rhino E," capable of delivering a 500-kilometer range with just 8 minutes of charging; the performance-oriented SUV Exeed EX7, featuring a semi-solid (hybrid) battery, set to launch in the fourth quarter of this year; and the Exeed ES8 shooting brake, which will serve as the testbed for validating the all-solid-state battery technology in 2027.
