Alongside the unveiling of the all-new all-electric i3 sedan based on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, the automaker simultaneously teased the i3 Touring estate variant, revealing only a blurred silhouette. Media-rendered illustrations based on this teaser suggest the new model will feature sharp, striking design cues that could significantly elevate its overall aesthetics. BMW CEO Oliver Zipse stated that the Touring version will cater to both business users and families, continuing the brand’s classic body style tradition. The new model is expected to be offered in both all-electric (i3 Touring) and combustion-engine (3 Series Touring) variants, which will share similar exterior styling but ride on different platforms. Additionally, the highly anticipated M3 Touring variant is also likely to be launched. Although the current 3 Series Touring’s independently opening rear window may be discontinued, BMW remains committed to retaining the estate body style, offering customers an alternative beyond SUVs. The new Touring models are expected to debut in 2027.
