Recently, overseas media captured spy photos of the 2027 Volkswagen Tiguan R prototype undergoing road testing near the Nürburgring. The vehicle appears almost entirely undisguised and is expected to make its official debut by the end of 2026. Compared to the current R-Line model, the Tiguan R features a more aggressive design, including quad exhaust tips similar to those on the Golf R, larger front bumper air intakes, 21-inch wheels, and a large-diameter braking system shared with Audi models. The new model will come standard with Volkswagen’s Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) system to enhance handling stability. Inside, the front seats will feature embroidered “R” logos, and the steering wheel will include a dedicated “R” mode button. A Clubsport package may also be offered as an option, featuring seats upholstered in a combination of microfiber and fabric. Power comes from the EA888 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch transmission. Output figures are rated at 328 hp and 400 N·m for the U.S. version, while the European variant delivers 333 hp and 420 N·m.
