During Italy's 2020 lockdown, Giampaolo Dallara, founder of Dallara, led a team of young engineers in creating a one-off single-seater road car named the "Macchina Posto Singolo," which successfully obtained road-legal certification. The vehicle features a central driving position, a carbon-fiber body, a newly designed front end, and an aerodynamic rear section incorporating a three-stage diffuser and a small rear wing. It is powered by a Ford-sourced 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 395 horsepower, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The minimalist interior retains the steering wheel and instrument cluster from the Dallara Stradale but omits the manual gear lever; instead, a mechanical handbrake is mounted on the right side. This unique custom-built car rides on a chassis specially re-engineered for single-seat configuration. It will be offered without reserve by RM Sotheby’s in Monaco on April 25, with an estimated value exceeding €700,000. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Caterina Dallara Foundation, established in memory of Giampaolo’s daughter.
