At its Spring 2026 Media Briefing, SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company unveiled a new dual-brand strategy for Roewe and MG. Roewe will pursue a dual-track approach of "solidifying its mainstream base while breaking into the premium segment": it will launch the A+-segment gasoline-powered family sedan i6 to anchor its position in the mainstream 70,000–80,000 RMB market, and introduce the world’s first AI-native premium SUV in Q3, supporting an aggressive rollout of seven new models throughout the year. MG, meanwhile, will target young consumers in the 100,000–200,000 RMB price range by expanding the MG4 family (including the all-electric SUV MG 4X), launching the coupe-style MG 07, and leveraging technology trickle-down to address its current imbalances—overreliance on a single hit model domestically and stronger overseas performance than at home. 2026 is being positioned as a make-or-break year for both brands, with success hinging on effective product execution and market implementation.
