The new premium NEV brand FREELANDER, jointly developed by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, will make its official debut in Shanghai on March 31. Built on Chery’s E0X pure-electric platform, the vehicle exceeds 5.1 meters in length and features a 2+2+2 six-seat layout. It comes standard with air suspension and Level 2 driver assistance systems, and will be offered in both all-electric and range-extended variants—the all-electric version supporting 800V high-voltage fast charging. Key components include Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent system, CATL batteries, and Qualcomm chips. The FREELANDER brand will replace the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque models, which are set to be discontinued in China, thereby filling a gap in the joint venture’s product lineup. Additionally, Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s Changshu plant will invest RMB 3 billion to add multiple new models, with production expected to commence in 2026.
