Tesla is set to launch the Model 3 Standard Range version in the Chinese market, with a dedicated production line already established at its Gigafactory Shanghai. Equipped with a 52.9 kWh battery pack, the vehicle offers a CLTC-rated range of 480 kilometers—significantly lower than the current rear-wheel-drive variant’s 634 kilometers. To reduce costs, approximately 20 features have been removed, including fabric seats, absence of ventilated seats, no ambient lighting, single-pane glass, manual side mirror adjustment, and a simplified audio system. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6.2 seconds. Priced starting at $36,990 overseas (approximately RMB 255,000), the domestic price in China is expected to fall below RMB 200,000, enabling Tesla to further capture the mainstream market. The model has already appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) tax-exempt vehicle directory under the name “Model 3 Standard Range Plus.”
