According to data from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, China's passenger vehicle market in February 2026 continued its dual-track structure featuring both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and new energy vehicles (NEVs). In the ICE segment, Chery’s Tiggo 7/7 Plus topped sales with 18,303 units, followed closely by the Volkswagen Lavida and Geely Binyue. Of the top ten best-selling ICE models, eight were from domestic brands, with multiple SUVs and sedans from Chery and Geely delivering standout performances. Only two joint-venture models—both from Volkswagen—made it onto the list. In the NEV segment, Geely’s Galaxy Starship led the rankings with 37,859 units sold, followed by the Tesla Model Y at 31,624 units. Xiaomi’s SU7 made a strong debut in third place with 20,196 units, while several BYD models also featured prominently on the list. Overall, domestic brands are dominating the market thanks to their comprehensive product portfolios. ICE vehicles continue to maintain steady demand in specific segments, while the NEV market is rapidly evolving toward greater diversification and intensified competition.
