Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, gasoline prices in Europe continue to rise, unexpectedly fueling strong demand in the used electric vehicle (EV) market. Data from multiple online automotive platforms show that consumers are increasingly switching to EVs to avoid soaring fuel costs. Aramisauto, a leading French online used-car retailer, reported that within just three weeks, the share of EV sales on its platform nearly doubled—from 6.5% to 12.7%—while the share of gasoline-powered vehicle sales dropped from 34% to 28%. This trend highlights how high fuel prices are becoming a key driver behind European consumers' shift toward electric mobility.
