On March 27, Tesla's official customer support account clarified on social media that reports claiming the "Model 3 Standard Range version will soon launch in China" are false. The vehicle is currently only available in select overseas markets, and Tesla has no plans to introduce it to the Chinese market at this time. Earlier rumors suggested that Tesla's Gigafactory Shanghai had already prepared a production line for this model, but the company has not confirmed this. The overseas Model 3 Standard Range version reduces its price—and enhances price competitiveness—by removing approximately 20 features, including comfort and convenience functions as well as adjustments to powertrain performance. However, Chinese consumers will not be able to purchase this simplified version in the near term.
