GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota have recently filed a recall plan with China's State Administration for Market Regulation, jointly recalling a total of 560,160 domestically produced vehicles. Of these, GAC Toyota is recalling 317,990 Highlander models, while FAW Toyota is recalling 242,170 Crown Kluger models. The recall is due to a design flaw in the second-row seatback recliner mechanism, where the return spring exerts excessive force, potentially causing the seatback to fail to lock properly. In the event of a collision, this could prevent the seat from effectively restraining occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Both companies will replace the affected return springs with improved ones free of charge to eliminate the safety hazard.
