At the 2026 annual expert-media exchange forum hosted by the China EV100 Research Institute, Ouyang Minggao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Deputy Chairman of the China EV100, stated that although multiple battery manufacturers and automakers have recently announced progress in solid-state battery development and mass production plans, the technology still has a long way to go before achieving large-scale application. He noted that solid-state batteries are expected to be installed in vehicles by 2027, but it may take another five to ten years to capture just 1% of the market share. Ouyang also emphasized that current electric vehicles already offer excellent performance, and consumers do not need to wait indefinitely for solid-state batteries.
