BMW Group China has officially announced that the new-generation long-wheelbase BMW iX3 will make its global debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show and go on sale in the second half of this year. The new model features a wheelbase of 3,005 mm—108 mm longer than the standard-wheelbase version—with all the added length dedicated to enhancing rear passenger space. Its exterior design includes China-exclusive semi-recessed door handles (integrating both electric and mechanical mechanisms) and a triple-power redundancy system. Measuring 4,885 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, the vehicle is built on an 800V high-voltage architecture and equipped with BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology, large cylindrical battery cells, and a proprietary intelligent energy management system, delivering a CLTC-rated range exceeding 900 km. In terms of intelligence, the new iX3 features a custom large language model co-developed with Alibaba and, in collaboration with Momenta, introduces a full-scenario point-to-point navigation-assisted driving system tailored specifically for Chinese road conditions, covering both highways and urban streets.
