During the Qingming holiday in 2026 (April 4–6), Guangdong Province will implement a toll-free policy for small passenger vehicles with seven seats or fewer. According to forecasts by the provincial Department of Transportation, highway traffic during the holiday will primarily consist of short- to medium-distance trips for tomb-sweeping and spring outings, resulting in generally stable traffic conditions. However, overall travel volume across the province is expected to rise significantly, with an average daily traffic volume of approximately 9.53 million vehicle trips—up 12.75% year-on-year. Traffic congestion will be concentrated mainly in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, where small passenger vehicles will account for a high proportion of total traffic.
