BYD announced the official launch of its 5,000th Flash Charging Station, alongside the debut of China’s first batch of high-speed Flash Charging Stations at the Jiejiazui Service Area on the Qinglan Expressway in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. Since unveiling its "Flash Charge China" strategy on March 5, BYD has added nearly 800 new stations in less than a month, bringing its network to 297 cities nationwide. The company’s innovative “station-within-a-station” model requires only three parking spaces to deploy a 1,500kW flash charger and an energy storage system—eliminating the need for grid upgrades or complex permitting processes. Leveraging BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, vehicles can charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes under normal temperatures, with only an additional three minutes required in cold conditions. The flash chargers feature a rail-mounted, overhead T-shaped design and “zero-gravity” charging cables for enhanced user convenience. According to BYD’s roadmap, it plans to build 20,000 flash charging stations by the end of 2026, including 2,000 along highways—ensuring one station every 100 kilometers. All stations will be open to the public, and BYD has also launched its “Dream Station” initiative to fulfill customized site requests from users.
