BMW's new gasoline-powered X1 prototype has recently been spotted by international media, with an official debut expected in 2027. The new model will retain the current platform but feature significant changes to the front fascia: it adopts a narrower kidney grille and sealed-style headlights reminiscent of the upcoming iX3 from BMW’s Neue Klasse lineup. An air intake remains below the grille to meet cooling requirements. Changes to the side profile and rear are relatively minor, primarily involving revised bumpers, side skirts, and details of the M Performance package. Powertrain options will continue to include mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. The top-trim model will be equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing approximately 300 horsepower, paired with all-wheel drive, while other trims will remain front-wheel drive. The interior will see the most substantial updates, featuring BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system, a panoramic head-up display, and likely a 17.9-inch central touchscreen—slightly smaller than the one in the iX3. The new X1 is expected to start at around £40,000 (approximately RMB 366,000) and will be a key part of BMW’s plan to launch 40 new models by 2027.
