Shaanxi Province’s automotive industry exhibits a pattern of “core agglomeration, Guanzhong dominance, and tiered distribution,” with resources highly concentrated in the Guanzhong urban cluster. Xi’an, as the core hub, hosts over 1,000 suppliers and is home to major automakers such as BYD, Geely, and Smart Automobile, along with key component manufacturers like FinDreams Battery and Fast Gear, forming the province’s most complete industrial chain. Baoji focuses primarily on heavy-duty vehicles and components, with 200–300 suppliers, while Xianyang leverages its geographical proximity to Xi’an to absorb spillover production capacity and specializes in supporting manufacturing. According to provincial plans, Shaanxi’s total vehicle production capacity will exceed 1.89 million units by 2026, including 1.2115 million from BYD, 537,700 from Geely, and 150,000 from Smart Automobile. Despite its emerging industrial base, Shaanxi still lags behind eastern coastal regions in terms of supply chain completeness and marketization, and its future development will continue to rely heavily on leadership from core cities.
