BYD is accelerating its "Flash Charge China" strategy across the board. At a recent earnings briefing, the company announced that its 5,000th flash charging station has officially commenced operations, alongside the simultaneous launch of the nation’s first batch of high-speed expressway flash charging stations—marking a significant acceleration in its charging infrastructure rollout. According to its roadmap, BYD plans to build a total of 20,000 flash charging stations by the end of this year, with approximately 2,000 of them covering nearly one-third of all highway service areas nationwide—substantially alleviating range anxiety for long-distance travelers. To better meet user demands, BYD has also launched the "Flash Charge Dream Station Program": if four or more BYD owners submit requests to install a station at the same location and site conditions permit, the company will prioritize planning and constructing a flash charging station there. Notably, these stations will not only serve BYD vehicle owners but will also be open to the general public. On the technology front, BYD officially unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery and new flash charging technology on March 5. This breakthrough enables charging from 10% to 70% in just five minutes and up to 97% in nine minutes—setting a new global record for the fastest charging speed among mass-produced electric vehicles. The accompanying flash chargers feature a peak single-gun power output of 1,500 kW, with each unit equipped with two charging guns, ensuring a high-speed flash charging experience even when two vehicles charge simultaneously. In terms of coverage, BYD has set clear targets: flash charging stations within 3 kilometers in Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, within 5 kilometers in Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities, and within 6 kilometers in Tier-5 and Tier-6 cities. The company aims to ensure that 90% of urban areas nationwide will have access to a BYD flash charger within a 5-kilometer radius, significantly enhancing everyday charging convenience for users.
