In March 2026, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) released its 2025 financial report. The company reported total revenue of RMB 423.702 billion for the year, an increase of 17.04% year-over-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company reached RMB 72.201 billion, up 42.28% year-over-year, with a net profit margin of 17%. In 2025, CATL sold 541 GWh of power batteries, a 41.85% year-over-year increase, raising its global market share to 39.2%—maintaining its position as the world’s top supplier for the ninth consecutive year. Its energy storage battery sales reached 121 GWh, growing by 29.13% year-over-year and securing the global No. 1 spot for the fifth straight year. The company achieved a capacity utilization rate of 96.9%, and contract liabilities stood at RMB 49.233 billion, up 76.88% year-over-year. In terms of R&D, CATL invested RMB 22.1 billion in 2025, bringing its cumulative R&D investment over the past decade to more than RMB 90 billion. Meanwhile, some automakers are reducing their reliance on CATL through vertical integration, and multiple companies have already begun positioning themselves in the solid-state battery sector. Over the next three to five years, leading automakers may develop relationships with CATL characterized by both deep strategic partnerships and intensified competition, while second-tier automakers are likely to adopt multi-supplier strategies, potentially exerting pressure on CATL’s market share.
