Rivian delivered 10,365 vehicles in the first quarter of 2024, a 20% year-over-year increase. The deliveries included the R1S SUV, R1T pickup truck, and RCV commercial van. Despite a sluggish overall U.S. electric vehicle market and declining sales across multiple automakers, Rivian achieved growth against the trend. Ford’s EV sales in the U.S. during the same period dropped by 69.6% year-over-year, and BMW also saw a significant decline in its electric vehicle sales. Rivian’s delivery figures include some sales from the Canadian market, making them not entirely comparable to other automakers’ purely U.S.-based data. Estimates suggest Rivian’s U.S. sales alone last quarter may have already surpassed Ford’s. The company recently secured a combined $2 billion investment from Uber and the Volkswagen Group and is moving forward with the U.S. launch of its midsize R2 SUV, with plans to expand into European and Asian markets afterward.
