The GAC Aion AION RT battery-swap version is scheduled to launch on April 8, 2025, at 19:00. It supports CATL’s “Choco Swap” battery-swapping technology, with the automaker claiming a fastest swap time of just 99 seconds. Positioned as a family sedan, the refreshed AION RT was previously launched in September 2025, offering four variants priced from RMB 99,800 to RMB 123,800, or RMB 85,800 to RMB 109,800 after comprehensive subsidies. Additionally, the Aion UT Super—co-developed by GAC Aion, CATL, and JD.com—was launched in November 2025, targeting the sub-RMB 100,000 market segment. It features a dual-energy replenishment system supporting both charging and battery swapping. Under the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, the vehicle starts at RMB 49,900; the full-vehicle purchase price is RMB 89,900. According to plans, CATL’s Choco Swap network is expected to cover more than 140 cities by 2026, with over 3,000 battery swap stations built, alongside concurrent development of a highway swap station network. The long-term goal is to deploy 30,000 swap stations nationwide, with a franchise program also set to open.
