New Xiaomi SU7 Features ALD-Coated Camera and Enhanced Driving Functions

The new-generation Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with ultra-clear anti-glare cameras featuring ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) coating applied to internal lens elements. This coating reduces light reflection and enhances light transmittance, thereby improving the target recognition accuracy of the vehicle’s driver-assistance and parking systems. The technology effectively suppresses glare caused by backlighting during daytime or high-beam headlights from vehicles behind at night, while also minimizing ghosting artifacts. Additionally, the outermost lens surface features a hardened hydrophobic coating that protects the internal ALD layer from wear during routine cleaning and maintenance. The vehicle exterior integrates four microphone arrays—located at the front, rear, and left/right side mirrors—each rated IP6K9K for dust and high-pressure water resistance. These microphones support omnidirectional voice pickup and enable external voice commands to activate functions such as opening the trunk. If water droplets remain near the microphones after car washing, voice recognition performance may be temporarily affected but will fully recover once the moisture evaporates. Users can customize door-unlock range in the settings: in “Driver Door Only” mode, only the driver’s door unlocks upon external activation—ideal for solo driving scenarios—while “All Doors” mode facilitates convenient entry and exit for multiple passengers. Additionally, prolonged use of magnetic accessories may leave temporary indentations on the bodywork, which is normal and will gradually fade after removal. The seat ventilation system employs an air-suction design with three adjustable levels to draw away body heat and moisture, enhancing comfort. Users can adjust the ventilation level via the central touchscreen or by using the voice command “Xiao Ai” to access the climate control–seat interface.
