In March 2026, retail sales of passenger vehicles nationwide totaled 1.648 million units, down 15.0% year-over-year but up 59.4% month-over-month. Cumulative retail sales for the first three months of the year reached 4.226 million units, a 17.4% decline compared to the same period last year. The new energy vehicle (NEV) segment showed strong performance that month, with 19 manufacturers each reporting wholesale sales exceeding 10,000 units, collectively accounting for 91.9% of total NEV sales. On the retail side, multiple NEV makers surpassed 20,000 units in monthly sales. BYD Auto led the market with 194,131 units sold, followed by Geely Auto (96,842 units), Changan Automobile (64,439 units), and Tesla China (56,107 units). Li Auto, SAIC-GM-Wuling, NIO, Leapmotor, GAC Aion, and Dongfeng Motor all recorded sales exceeding 28,000 units. Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) reported March retail sales of 26,582 units, ranking 11th on the chart. Additionally, Chery Automobile, XPeng Motors, Xiaomi Auto, and SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Division each achieved retail sales above 21,000 units.
