On April 8 and 9, 2025, Shandong Province issued and implemented the "Implementation Plan for Establishing High-Power Charging Demonstration Stations for Electric Heavy-Duty Trucks along Key Highway Freight Corridors in Shandong Province" and the "Several Measures to Support Large-Scale Adoption of Electric Heavy-Duty Trucks." According to the plan, between 2026 and 2027, Shandong will comprehensively advance the construction of high-power charging demonstration stations for electric heavy-duty trucks along key transport routes. Regarding expressways, the province plans to build 48 demonstration charging stations across 24 pairs of service areas, creating a “four-vertical, two-horizontal” green energy corridor for electric heavy-duty trucks. This corridor will span over 2,600 kilometers, connecting all 16 prefecture-level cities and covering the three major economic zones: the Provincial Capital, Jiaodong, and South Shandong. For national and provincial trunk roads, Shandong will construct 107 demonstration stations along 14 main arterial routes, forming a “four-vertical, three-horizontal” energy replenishment network covering all 16 cities with a total length exceeding 6,600 kilometers. Additionally, Shandong aims to achieve an electric heavy-duty truck penetration rate at the national average level by 2027. Data shows that as of 2025, the province had already reached a total of 20,000 electric heavy-duty trucks in operation, with 10,000 newly added in 2025 alone—a year-on-year increase of 190%. However, challenges remain, including insufficient total charging infrastructure capacity, low operational efficiency, and suboptimal station distribution.
