Volkswagen Executive: China Sets the Pace for Global EV Competition

On April 11, at the High-Level Forum on Intelligent and Electric Vehicle Development (2026), Han Sanchu, Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group China and CEO of CARIAD China, stated that China is the world's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) market, and its rapid pace, complexity, and diverse user demands are continuously raising industry standards. He emphasized that the current pace of global NEV competition is being defined by China, and any automaker aiming to achieve genuine competitiveness in the new energy era must establish comprehensive and robust core capabilities within China.
