During the 2026 High-Level Forum on Intelligent and Electric Vehicle Development, Xu Zhicheng, CTO of ZTE's Enterprise Business, stated that the company will not enter the vehicle manufacturing sector but will instead remain focused on ICT technologies to support the automotive industry. He noted that ZTE adopts a pragmatic and low-profile strategy in automotive electronics, collaborating with automakers primarily through three models: first, dispatching R&D engineers to provide on-site technical support, as exemplified by its partnership with FAW; second, leveraging ZTE’s large AI models optimized with automakers’ proprietary data; and third, directly delivering pre-trained coding agents to automakers. Additionally, ZTE is prioritizing strategic investments in key technological areas such as in-vehicle networking, chips, operating systems, and 4G/5G communication modules.
