After halting custom orders for the Model S and Model X at the end of March, Tesla has begun sending exclusive invitations to select customers for a limited release of "Signature Edition" Model S and Model X Plaid vehicles. This special batch includes 250 units of the Model S Plaid and 100 units of the Model X Plaid (available only in a six-seat configuration), sold exclusively via personalized email invitations. The Signature Edition models feature unique design elements: an all-new "Pomegranate Red" exterior paint, a gold-finished Tesla "T" badge on the front hood, and gold Plaid emblems on the rear. The interior is primarily white, accented with Alcantara suede, gold contrast stitching, and gold Plaid logos embroidered on the seats. Each vehicle comes with signature-branded illuminated door sills, a center console plaque engraved with a unique serial number (e.g., 1/250), gold Plaid welcome lighting projected onto the ground, special ambient cabin lighting, and a Signature Edition key fob. The Model S Signature Edition is equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes and gold calipers, while the Model X Signature Edition retains red Plaid calipers but features new 22-inch Machina wheels. Both models come standard with the "Premium Package," which includes Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability, complimentary Supercharging, four years of Premium Connectivity, and lifetime access to premium in-car connectivity services. Priced at $159,420, the Signature Edition models cost approximately $30,000 more than the recently price-increased standard Model S Plaid ($124,990) and Model X Plaid ($129,990). Most new Model X vehicles in Tesla’s U.S. inventory have already sold out, with only a few display units remaining. To commemorate the 14-year production run of the Model S and Model X, Tesla plans to host an official celebration event in May, though the exact date and location have not yet been announced. As Tesla’s Fremont factory gradually shifts its production focus toward the Optimus humanoid robot and future mass-market vehicles, production of the Model S and Model X is set to end.
