In January this year, Mr. Wu purchased a Mercedes-Benz GLC equipped with Level 2 driver-assistance features. After approximately three months of use, the system began experiencing frequent malfunctions, specifically including an unresponsive touchscreen on the central infotainment display, inability to access the main interface, and a warning message on the instrument cluster stating, “Traffic Sign Assist system has stopped working.” On February 2, while driving on a highway with navigation-assisted driving activated, his vehicle suddenly decelerated unexpectedly, posing a safety hazard. The vehicle was purchased from Huzhou Dexing Mercedes-Benz 4S dealership. Following the onset of these issues, the dealership has attempted multiple remedies, including clearing fault codes, performing system updates, and replacing the network control unit and infotainment system. However, the problem persists. According to a dealership representative, all repair and upgrade procedures were carried out strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s technical guidelines, and the issue has already been reported to the manufacturer’s technical department. The preliminary assessment suggests the root cause lies in the software, and the manufacturer is expected to release an optimized software update within the coming weeks. The representative also stated that if the issue remains unresolved after the software update, the dealership will coordinate with the manufacturer to proceed with a vehicle replacement or refund. Mr. Wu has agreed to await the upcoming software update and will decide whether to pursue further action based on the outcome.
