The 2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS, the brand's all-electric flagship sedan, was unveiled on April 14, offering multiple trim levels. Among them, the single-motor rear-wheel-drive EQS 450+ achieves a WLTP range of 925 kilometers—the longest in the lineup—while the EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC feature dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. Over 25% of the vehicle’s components have been newly developed or optimized. The electrical architecture has been upgraded from 400V to 800V, enabling DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, and the battery capacity has increased to 122 kWh. When using an 800V charger, the EQS can regain approximately 320 kilometers of WLTP range in just 10 minutes. For the first time, the 2027 EQS offers steer-by-wire as an optional feature, paired with a near-rectangular yoke-style steering wheel that rotates about 270 degrees. With this system selected, the rear wheels’ maximum steering angle increases to 10 degrees, enhancing low-speed maneuverability. Conventional round steering wheels with electromechanical steering remain available as alternatives. Exterior design retains the teardrop-shaped, single-bow body profile, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.20 Cd. The front fascia features a new structure with a standard black closed-off grille adorned with a backlit star-pattern motif and a wide chrome accent strip. The AMG Line variant offers alternative illuminated grille designs and an illuminated central three-pointed star emblem. Powertrain-wise, the new EQS is equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s in-house-developed electric motors and debuts a two-speed transmission on the rear axle. Regenerative braking power has been boosted to 385 kW—an increase of one-third compared to previous models. In terms of intelligent features, the vehicle runs on the MB.OS operating system and includes a 56-inch triple-screen setup, integrating a multi-agent AI assistant and deep integration with Google Maps. It is equipped with 10 cameras and 27 sensors throughout, supporting advanced driver-assistance functions such as automated lane changes, evasive steering, and automatic parking.
