From April 10 to 11, 2024, FAW-Volkswagen held its inaugural Technology Innovation Forum. The event combined "technology exhibitions, closed-door workshops, and thematic forums" to showcase forward-looking industry technology trends, core technological achievements, and innovative application cases, while also establishing a technical collaboration platform between suppliers and OEMs. During the thematic forum session, multiple speakers shared insights on key intelligent technologies and product innovation: Zhou Xiaoying, CEO of Gasgoo, presented an outlook on technological innovation in China’s smart electric vehicles; Qiu Chao, Vice President of Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving Solution, analyzed the technological roadmap from smart driving to autonomous driving; Xu Huxiong, Global Partner at Roland Berger, interpreted forward-looking trends in intelligent electrification; Wang Shiyu, General Manager of the Styling Research Institute at AERTEC Solutions, discussed automotive design trends and AI empowerment under new competitive dynamics; and Liu Xiaodong, representative of Volcano Engine’s Doubao Cockpit Large Model Solution, shared practical considerations for implementing large model technologies in vehicle cockpits. The closed-door workshop brought together executives from companies including RoboSense, AXERA Tech, ChiYun Technology, Sosotech, and Yangjie Automotive Electronics for in-depth discussions on intelligent driving, lightweighting and new materials, and smart cockpits—focusing on challenges in technology implementation, application scenarios, and potential collaboration opportunities. Held concurrently, the technology exhibition attracted over 50 suppliers, covering areas such as smart cockpits, intelligent driving, lightweighting, new materials, quality and efficiency enhancement, emerging technologies, electrification (three-electric systems), and thermal management. In the smart cockpit zone, non-contact and contact sensors as well as seat controller solutions were displayed. The intelligent driving section featured low-voltage connectors and overseas-connected vehicle networking platforms. Lightweighting and new materials exhibits included integrated die-casting solutions and ultrasonic-embedded plastic nuts (zEPP). The three-electric and thermal management area showcased high-efficiency thermal management systems, low-loss technologies, and high-current fast-charging applications. Meanwhile, the emerging technologies zone featured cutting-edge innovations such as humanoid robot joint communication SDKs with SLAM mapping simulation platforms and low-altitude economy flight platforms. This event successfully facilitated efficient communication channels between FAW-Volkswagen and numerous suppliers, broadened the scope of technology selection, optimized supply chain strategies, and provided a professional platform for innovative SMEs with core technological capabilities to connect directly with OEMs.
