XPeng’s first full-size luxury SUV, the GX, opened for pre-orders on April 15 with a starting price of RMB 399,800. Display vehicles began arriving at dealerships nationwide from April 18. Built on XPeng’s new SEPA 3.0 Physical AI Architecture, the GX is positioned as an “AI New Luxury” flagship six-seater SUV, integrating technologies such as Robotaxi-level autonomous driving, safety redundancy systems derived from flying cars, embodied intelligence chips, and advanced architecture. The GX is available in both all-electric and extended-range variants. The BEV version delivers a CLTC range of 750 km, based on an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform supporting 5C ultra-fast charging. The extended-range model features a 1.5T range extender, offering 430 km of pure electric range and a combined range of up to 1,585 km. All trims come standard with dual-chamber air suspension and CDC damping control. Measuring 5,265 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,115 mm and a drag coefficient of just 0.255, the GX adopts a yacht-inspired design language. It features 22-inch wheels, a clamshell hood, a one-piece tailgate, hidden beltlines, and flush side windows. Five exterior color options and three interior color schemes are offered. At the front, it sports a 24K Space Ceramic Gold emblem and megapixel DLP digital projection headlights capable of intelligent obstacle avoidance and ground projection interaction, along with power-operated doors on all four sides. Inside, the cabin includes a 21.4-inch 3K ceiling-mounted screen (with anti-pinch sensors) and a 17.3-inch 120Hz central touchscreen. It debuts the industry’s first frost-free, wind-cooled车载 refrigerator with built-in sterilization and voice control. The audio system is the Lingjing AI Sound Max, featuring 33 speakers. Interior materials include Alcantara headliners, Nappa leather, wood trim, and triple-layer ambient lighting. All six windows feature AI-tinted privacy glass that can switch tint levels in just 0.16 seconds. The GX adopts a 2+2+2 seating layout with three rows of power-folding seats, including two zero-gravity seats. It supports flexible configurations—four-seat, five-seat, or six-seat modes. The third-row seats offer 0–180° recline and can be fully stowed into a recessed trunk floor. Even with all six seats occupied, the vehicle accommodates six 24-inch suitcases. Trunk capacity is 673 liters, expanding to 1,748 liters when folded. The BEV variant also includes a 109-liter front trunk. In terms of intelligence, the GX is China’s first factory-installed, mass-produced Robotaxi prototype vehicle, developed to Level 4 autonomous driving standards. It delivers 3,000 TOPS of effective computing power using a pure vision-based approach—without LiDAR—and integrates XPeng’s second-generation VLA+VLM large models. It supports automatic emergency braking at speeds up to 150 km/h, AES emergency steering assist up to 130 km/h, and AES functionality optimized for icy, wet, or slippery road conditions. A driver monitoring system detects abnormal states and can autonomously pull over and park in a safe emergency zone. For safety, the GX employs a 16,000-ton integrated front-and-rear mega-casting process and is equipped with 11 airbags plus a continuous side curtain airbag, forming a triad of passive safety, active safety, and aerospace-grade redundant safety systems. In real-world testing, it became the first vehicle in the industry to complete a 720° five-phase sequential crash test—including underbody scraping, frontal, side, rear collisions, and roof impact—while maintaining full structural integrity of the passenger compartment. The vehicle features an EIS impedance spectroscopy battery management system for real-time monitoring and early warning of battery safety throughout charging and discharging cycles. Its chassis incorporates native steer-by-wire and rear-wheel active steering technologies, enabling a turning radius of just 5.4 meters despite its 5.2-meter length. The GX’s safety redundancy system includes six layers of design: quadruple-redundant steering, dual hydraulic + electronic brake backup, redundant drive control circuits + motor redundancy, dual CAN bus communication, dual power supplies, and dual door-unlocking mechanisms with quadruple opening backups—ensuring the vehicle remains controllable, stoppable, and evacuable even under extreme conditions.
