Volvo unveiled its all-new EX90, a flagship all-electric SUV, on April 15. The model is offered in two variants: the dual-motor AWD Plus and the dual-motor AWD high-performance Ultra, with pre-sale prices of RMB 539,900 and RMB 609,900, respectively. Built on Volvo’s native luxury electric SPA2 architecture and featuring an 800-volt electrical system across the entire vehicle, the EX90 delivers a maximum CLTC range of up to 756 kilometers and adopts a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout. Exterior-wise, the EX90 features a closed-off front fascia equipped with Volvo’s signature “Thor’s Hammer” headlights—LED units on the Plus trim and upgraded high-definition pixel headlights on the Ultra. At the rear, split “Viking Axe” taillights form a distinctive “C” shape when illuminated. Standard exterior features across both trims include a premium appearance package, power-folding side mirrors (with power adjustment, memory, heating, and driver-side auto-dimming), sequential dynamic turn signals, an electrochromic panoramic roof, acoustic laminated glass, privacy glass on the rear windshield and rear side windows, and a hands-free power tailgate. The EX90 measures 5,037 mm long, 1,964 mm wide, and 1,742 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,985 mm. Powertrain options include a high-output version (Ultra) with a 220 kW front motor and a 280 kW rear motor, and a standard-output version (Plus) with a 130 kW front motor and a 200 kW rear motor—both paired with an all-wheel-drive system. All models come standard with 265/45 R21 front and 295/40 R21 rear tires, Brembo four-piston front brake calipers, and 21-inch eight-spoke aerodynamic alloy wheels. The Ultra trim offers optional 22-inch five-spoke aerodynamic wheels or 22-inch five-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin features a horizontal dashboard layout adorned with open-pore ash wood trim embedded with starry-night ambient lighting. Equipment includes a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, a vertically oriented 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and a stalk-mounted gear selector. The center console houses a wireless smartphone charging pad, two cup holders, and a dedicated music playback knob. Standard interior features across the lineup include a head-up display (HUD), a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay, power-adjustable steering wheel, and heated steering wheel functionality.
