BYD released official images of its all-new Sealion 05 on April 16, with the vehicle set to make its official debut on April 20. The new model adopts BYD’s family design language and is offered in an orange-red color scheme. It features semi-recessed door handles on the sides and may be equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR system to support advanced driver-assistance functions. Inside, the Sealion 05 is fitted with a rectangular central infotainment screen. Physical buttons are retained below the screen and on the steering wheel for ease of use. The front center console includes a wireless phone charging pad and dual cup holders. The rear seats can be folded down to create a “double-bed” layout. The Sealion 05 will be available in both all-electric and DM-i plug-in hybrid variants. The all-electric version offers motor outputs of either 200 kW or 240 kW and is expected to feature BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery along with flash-charging technology. The DM-i variant utilizes BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology, combining a 1.5-liter engine (74 kW maximum power) with an electric drive motor (120 kW maximum power).
