On April 16, the main structure of Phase IV of CALB’s Wuhan base was largely completed, with production line installation and commissioning currently underway. The facility aims to achieve mass production by the end of June 2024. This phase, which received an additional investment of RMB 1.2 billion in June 2023, focuses on intelligent manufacturing of动力电池 PACK (battery pack) systems and plans to build six high-standard intelligent production lines with a designed annual capacity of approximately 400,000 units. Since establishing its presence in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) in 2021, CALB has fully completed and commissioned Phases I–III of its Wuhan base, achieving an annual production capacity of 40 GWh for both power and energy storage batteries. Its products are stably supplied to mainstream new energy vehicle models, including those from Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company. The base’s output value is expected to exceed RMB 10 billion by 2025, with annual revenue doubling for three consecutive years. The establishment of this base has filled a critical gap in Wuhan’s new energy vehicle power battery industrial chain, driving integration, clustering, and collaborative upgrading among upstream and downstream local suppliers. Currently, WEDZ hosts nine automakers, 14 vehicle assembly plants, and over 1,000 automotive component suppliers, actively advancing the development of a RMB 100-billion-scale new energy vehicle industry corridor.
