At a recent user engagement event, Le Dao addressed concerns raised by existing owners regarding potential vehicle depreciation caused by its new intelligent driving solution and announced a specific compensation plan. Previously, Le Dao launched the Shengji intelligent driving system equipped with LiDAR, which sparked worries among owners of older vehicles fitted with the Orin-based pure vision system about their cars' residual value. In response, the company expressed understanding and committed to continuously optimizing the intelligent driving experience of the Orin system through software updates to enhance usability. As compensation, Le Dao will grant existing owners an additional five years of NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) service and is exploring further benefits to safeguard their interests. The company emphasized that both the Orin and Shengji systems share the same underlying architecture and data infrastructure within the group, enabling mutual technological advancement. A major upgrade for the Orin system is scheduled for July this year, focusing on improvements to lane-changing and narrow-road driving capabilities, with two more iterations planned before year-end. Regarding requests from existing owners for hardware upgrades, Le Dao clarified that due to complete incompatibility between the two systems in terms of chips, wiring harnesses, and sensors, upgrading would require dismantling the roof lining and floor panels—an operation that is highly complex, costly, and difficult to guarantee reliability. Therefore, such retrofits are not currently supported, though feasibility will be reassessed in the future.
