Hesai Technology recently unveiled the world's first 6D full-color LiDAR ultra-sensitive chip, "Picasso SPAD-SoC," and launched the ETX series 6D full-color LiDAR platform powered by this chip. This technology simultaneously captures 3D spatial information and object color, directly outputting native 6D full-color point clouds—enabling identification of traffic light colors, road signs, and obstacle types without relying on cameras. The Picasso SPAD-SoC chip achieves a photon detection efficiency exceeding 40%. Combined with Hesai’s proprietary Photon Isolation 2.0 technology and waveform decoding engine, it delivers a maximum ranging distance of 600 meters—significantly surpassing the current mainstream products’ range of 200 to 300 meters. The ETX series supports multiple high-channel configurations, reaching up to 4,320 lines—4.8 times higher than today’s flagship offerings—and substantially increases point cloud density. The platform can detect small objects such as wooden blocks within 150 meters, small animals within 280 meters, and water-filled barriers within 300 meters. It also features 4K ultra-high-definition resolution, greatly enhancing environmental detail perception. Beyond automotive autonomous driving, this technology will also be applied in robotics, industrial inspection, and intelligent security systems. Hesai plans to begin mass production and delivery of the ETX series LiDAR in the second half of 2026, with widespread integration into multiple flagship vehicle models expected between 2027 and 2028.
