Tesla officially launched the Model Y L in the Indian market on April 22. This dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant starts at ₹6,199,000 (approximately RMB 454,000) before taxes and slots between the Model Y Standard Range and Long Range versions in terms of positioning. It marks Tesla’s first new model introduced locally since entering the Indian market in July 2023. The Model Y L features a three-row, six-seat layout, with individual second-row seats replacing the bench seat found in the standard version. Compared to the regular Model Y, the Model Y L Premium has a wheelbase extended by 150 mm, an overall length of 4,976 mm, and a slightly extended roofline toward the rear. Powering the Model Y L Premium is a dual-motor system delivering a maximum output of 378 kW and peak torque of 590 N·m. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds, with a top speed of 201 km/h and a WLTP-rated range of 681 km. The vehicle supports Tesla Superchargers, enabling a 15-minute fast charge to add up to 288 km of range. The Model Y L was first unveiled in the Chinese market in August 2023, with a starting price of approximately RMB 339,000. Tesla previously confirmed that this model is not exclusive to China and has already announced its launch in Australia and New Zealand, with potential expansion to additional markets. Since July 2023, India has been selling the standard five-seat Model Y.
