On April 22, Innoviz Technologies launched the InnovizTwo Ultra-Long Range (ULR) LiDAR. This Class 1 eye-safe device offers a detection range of up to one kilometer and enhanced point cloud resolution, specifically designed to meet the demand for high-fidelity, real-time environmental perception by physical AI systems at infrastructure scale. Developed using the same automotive-grade manufacturing processes and production tools as the InnovizTwo, this LiDAR is suitable for applications such as robotaxis, heavy-duty trucks, border security, airport runways, and large-scale facilities, delivering wide-area perception capabilities. Initial samples have already been delivered to select customers. The product enables autonomous systems to detect small obstacles hundreds of meters ahead while traveling at high speeds, significantly increasing safety margins. For heavy-duty trucks—which face perception challenges due to long braking distances and high inertia—the kilometer-range detection capability and high resolution support timely obstacle identification and safe path planning.
