On April 24, 2024, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. signed a cooperation agreement in Beijing to jointly develop next-generation intelligent vehicle technology platforms and products in three key areas: intelligent cockpits, intelligent driving, and cockpit-driving integration. Under the agreement, Chery will adopt Qualcomm’s Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ portfolio, including the “Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform Premium” for AI-driven cabin experiences, the “Snapdragon Ride™ Platform Premium” supporting advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and the “Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC” designed for centralized computing architectures. These technologies will support the intelligent upgrade of Chery’s multi-brand, multi-tier vehicle lineup. In the area of intelligent cockpits, both parties will leverage the Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform Premium to explore the application of on-device large AI models in premium and mainstream vehicles in the Chinese market. They aim to develop next-generation solutions featuring rapid response, seamless multi-screen interaction, and immersive entertainment experiences, thereby advancing Chery’s vision of “AI Emotional Equality.” The CONCEPT 97, the first concept car from FREELANDER—the luxury tech brand co-created by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover—will be among the world’s first vehicles to feature the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Premium (Snapdragon 8397). Regarding intelligent driving, the two companies will collaborate on developing smart ADAS solutions based on the Snapdragon Ride™ Platform, with related new Chery models scheduled for launch throughout 2024. In cockpit-driving integration, they will utilize the Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC to bridge data silos between intelligent cockpit and driving systems, streamline hardware and software integration, and achieve an integrated upgrade in perception, decision-making, and interaction. This approach will advance Chery’s goal of “AI Product Equality” in a scalable and cost-effective manner. Multiple new Chery models based on this platform are currently under development and expected to launch progressively this year.
