On April 24, 2026, the 19th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition opened. During the event, Sun Baigong, Vice President of Avatr Technology, shared insights in a media interview on Avatr’s brand strategy and technological roadmap. Sun stated that Avatr’s core competitiveness stems from its deep co-creation with Huawei and CATL, as well as Changan Automobile’s technological heritage. As a key external shareholder of Huawei’s “Yinwang” intelligent automotive solution, Avatr has established a strategic closed loop with Huawei in intelligent cockpits, intelligent driving, and retail experience. Additionally, Avatr is among the first automakers to adopt CATL’s latest battery technologies, including Qilin, Shenxing, and the upcoming solid-state batteries. In terms of in-house R&D, Avatr has unveiled its fully self-developed Kunlun Smart Range-Extended System and Taihang Chassis Control 2.0 technology. The distributed electric drive system enables millisecond-level electronic control, granting vehicles the handling agility of sedans, the off-road capability of SUVs, and superior traction recovery performance. The Avatr 06T demonstrated exceptional safety under extreme conditions—maintaining stable deceleration and stopping safely even after all four tires blew out at 220 km/h. Addressing the industry-wide decline in profit margins, Sun emphasized that a lack of originality traps brands in a cycle of low-price competition. Avatr adheres to original design principles, rejects imitation, and positions itself around the pillars of “intelligence, aesthetics, and luxury,” targeting elite consumers who value sophistication and safety. In April 2026, Avatr launched two new models—the updated Avatr 12 and the 06T—both equipped with the Taihang distributed electric drive system. The tri-motor AWD variant achieves a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.71 seconds and features Huawei’s 896-line LiDAR and the MoLA large-model-powered intelligent cockpit. Later this year, Avatr plans to introduce an SUV model, followed by a flagship SUV to further expand its presence in the premium family-user segment. Sun stressed that authentic Chinese premium brands must rely on original technology and differentiated user experiences—not mere component integration or imitation. Only through sustained R&D investment can a brand build a globally recognized, long-term premium identity.
