Against the backdrop of the new energy transition, Jaguar Land Rover and Chery have jointly launched the new brand FREELANDER, unveiling its first concept vehicle, the Concept 97, at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. As a concentrated embodiment of the brand’s technological and design direction, the Concept 97 integrates iconic elements from the Freelander legacy with new explorations in electrification and intelligence. In terms of exterior design, the Concept 97 retains the classic Freelander silhouette while reinterpreting it through a modern lens. The front fascia features a closed-off grille adorned with metallic trim and slim, elongated headlights, enhancing both its technological appeal and visual distinctiveness. A large protective skid plate beneath the front bumper underscores its SUV character and hints at off-road capability. The side profile maintains a high ground clearance and a straight roofline, delivering a rugged SUV aesthetic. The signature “triangle window” has been digitally reimagined as a new brand identifier, while large-diameter wheels and flared wheel arches further amplify the vehicle’s commanding presence. At the rear, the design is clean and minimalist. Full-width taillights and a sculpted tailgate create visual depth, complemented by a Targa-style semi-convertible rear window that balances functionality with individuality. Overall, the design pays homage to the brand’s heritage while aligning seamlessly with contemporary styling trends for new energy vehicles.
