On April 25, Pony.ai unveiled its next-generation autonomous driving domain controller, developed based on NVIDIA’s DRIVE Hyperion platform and designed for Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving and broader autonomous driving applications. Compared to its predecessor, the new domain controller delivers enhanced AI computing power, improved energy efficiency, and better support for the latest AI models, enabling it to more effectively meet L4 autonomous driving requirements in multi-sensor fusion, full-scenario perception, and complex scene understanding. It also strengthens system safety, enhances performance in complex scenarios, and improves deployment flexibility. The system will support the next phase of commercialization for Robotaxi services and drive growth in Pony.ai’s domain controller business. The platform supports flexible configurations with either a single chip or multiple chips and is planned to incorporate NVIDIA NVLink technology to enable high-speed, low-latency communication between two DRIVE Thor system-on-chips, achieving up to 4,000 FP4 TFLOPS of aggregate computing performance.
