On April 25, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), Chery Green Energy Eco-Tech Co., Ltd., and EnerVerse Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. The parties will collaborate to build an integrated charging and battery-swapping energy replenishment system by leveraging technological, industrial, and ecosystem resources, aligning with the diversified trends in new energy vehicle (NEV) energy replenishment. Under the agreement, Chery will develop vehicle models compatible with battery-swapping systems and networks; CATL and EnerVerse will be responsible for the development, iteration, and supply assurance of swappable batteries; and Chery Green Energy will provide comprehensive green energy solutions across all scenarios to jointly enhance users’ energy replenishment experience. In terms of market expansion, the partners will integrate brand and channel resources to establish an efficient sales collaboration mechanism, create a replicable and scalable joint marketing system, deepen cooperation in vehicle sales and services, expand their global market presence, and strengthen industrial synergy and international brand influence. As of April 2026, CATL’s “ChocoSwap” battery-swap stations have exceeded 1,470 nationwide, covering 99 cities. According to plans, by the end of 2026, the total number of swap stations will surpass 3,000, serving nearly 190 cities, with a swap station accessible within 10 minutes in core urban areas of more cities, while also extending coverage along highway networks.
