On the opening day of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show (April 24), Li Bin, Chairman of NIO, stated that the automotive market has shifted from growth-driven competition to a battle for market share within a saturated landscape, with only narrow gaps separating industry leaders, companies barely staying afloat, and those facing elimination. He emphasized that NIO’s team cannot afford even the slightest complacency. Since April, NIO has launched two new models—the ES9 and the 2026 ONVO L90—and plans to unveil the ONVO L80 on April 28. This wave of new product launches comes amid intensifying competition in the auto market: dozens of new vehicles hit the market between early April and the opening of the Beijing Auto Show, and more than 180 new models are being showcased during the event itself. Despite automakers’ aggressive marketing efforts and frequent high-profile executive engagements to generate buzz, the market landscape remains uncertain amid this flood of new vehicle releases.
