On April 27, during the Beijing Auto Show, Momenta held a themed session titled "Momenta R7: The Prologue of Physical AI." Cao Xudong, founder and CEO of Momenta, stated that the intelligent driving industry will rapidly consolidate, with China likely ending up with only two to three suppliers and at most three to four globally emerging as winners. He emphasized that the intelligent driving sector exhibits even stronger economies of scale and first-mover advantages than the semiconductor industry, with software marginal costs approaching zero. As scale expands, per-unit costs decrease while user experience improves, creating a virtuous flywheel effect. Currently, vehicles equipped with Momenta’s intelligent driving solutions have surged from nearly 300,000 a year ago to over 800,000, with each additional 100,000 units taking less than 40 days to achieve. The company has delivered more than 70 mass-produced vehicle models and secured定点 (定点 refers to confirmed development/production contracts) for over 200 models in total, with mass-production projects spanning more than ten countries and regions. At this year’s Beijing Auto Show, over 20 brands and more than 60 vehicle models featured Momenta’s solutions, including luxury marques such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. Cao also revealed that Momenta is accelerating the global deployment of its Robotaxi services and has established deep collaborations with multiple leading automakers. He noted that cash flow and data generated from mass-production businesses form the foundation for sustained long-term technological investment, adding that achieving scaled L4 autonomous driving will require investments on the order of tens of billions of dollars.
