On April 27, Leapmotor Auto—a brand under NIO—released additional official images of the Leapmotor L80. Positioned as an intelligent dual-cabin flagship large five-seater SUV, the L80 will open for pre-orders on April 28. Together with the Leapmotor L90, it forms the "Flagship Twin Stars" lineup and is equipped with globally leading intelligent hardware and software. In terms of design, the L80 continues the design language of the L90. The upper section of the front fascia features lighting capable of intelligent interaction, while the lower headlights support ADB adaptive high beams, dynamic cornering illumination, customizable light signatures, welcome/goodbye lighting sequences, and multi-scenario interactive functions. The vehicle offers two intelligent driving configurations: a LiDAR version powered by the Shennji NX9131 chip and NIO’s World Model-based intelligent driving assistance system, and a vision-only version equipped with NVIDIA OrinX chips. The L80 measures 5,145 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm, achieving a cabin space utilization rate of 81.5%. At the rear, it features the brand’s signature horizontal taillights with intelligent interaction capabilities, complemented by a roof-mounted spoiler and a hidden rear wiper. The vehicle includes a total of 53 storage compartments—13 in the first row and 17 in the second—with a maximum cargo capacity of 2,840 liters. Powering the L80 is NIO’s full-domain 900V electrical architecture, offered in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. The RWD version delivers a peak motor output of 340 kW and wheel-end torque of 5,000 N·m, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The AWD variant combines a front motor (100 kW) and a rear motor (340 kW), achieving a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 4.7 seconds. Li Bin, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, previously stated that Leapmotor aims to launch “three arrows at once” in Q2, including the L90, the updated L60, and the all-new L80. He described the L80 as “the world’s first dual-cabin super large five-seater,” expecting it to revolutionize the large five-seater SUV segment and boost sales of both the L90 and L60.
