On April 28, the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) Management Committee signed a cooperation agreement with Yipai Technology, officially establishing Yipai’s new energy vehicle production base in WEDZ. This project represents Yipai Technology’s flagship intelligent manufacturing facility dedicated exclusively to new energy vehicles. The facility will integrate whole-vehicle manufacturing, R&D and testing, component supply, and ecosystem collaboration into a benchmark smart factory, equipped with end-to-end digitalized manufacturing systems and intelligent inspection equipment. It will offer high flexibility for customized production and support multi-model, multi-powertrain co-line manufacturing. Yipai Technology is the core entity under Dongfeng Motor Corporation responsible for its self-owned passenger vehicle and new energy businesses, managing brands such as Dongfeng Yipai and Dongfeng Aeolus. The company currently operates five major production bases and maintains a nationwide network of over 1,200 sales and service outlets, with products exported to more than 40 countries and regions. In the first quarter of 2024, Yipai delivered a total of 63,659 new vehicles, marking three consecutive months of growth. According to its roadmap, Yipai plans to launch five new models in Wuhan in 2024 and introduce 15 new products over the next five years, targeting niche segments including urban off-roading, urban mobility solutions, and autonomous driving. The company aims to achieve annual sales exceeding one million units by 2030. Under its “3233” strategy, Yipai targets becoming one of China’s top three best-selling domestic new energy passenger vehicle brands within five years. Looking ahead to China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period (“Fifteen-Five”), Yipai will leverage WEDZ’s industrial resources to strengthen its product portfolio, technological innovation, manufacturing capabilities, and marketing network—focusing on four key priorities: creating hit products, building a stronger brand, optimizing distribution channels, and implementing precision marketing—to support Dongfeng Motor’s “Dongfeng Rising 2030” initiative.
