SAIC Volkswagen and China Auto Rental signed an annual framework procurement agreement on April 30, simultaneously completing the delivery of the first batch of vehicles. The delivered models include the Lavida XR, Passat, Tharu XR, Teramont Pro, and Audi E5 Sportback, which will be deployed in China Auto Rental’s fleet for holiday travel services during the upcoming May Day break. Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate in areas such as operational support, vehicle-infotainment system integration, and shared service resources, aiming to streamline the entire vehicle lifecycle management chain, enhance vehicle dispatching and maintenance efficiency, and deepen the integration of in-vehicle technology with car rental service systems. SAIC Volkswagen stated that both sides will further strengthen collaborative innovation in new energy vehicles, connected car technologies, and immersive test-drive experiences. Additionally, SAIC Volkswagen plans to launch seven new models—covering battery electric, extended-range electric, and plug-in hybrid variants—by 2026. Among these, the ID. ERA 9X, its first extended-range flagship SUV, was launched on April 25; the Passat ePro and Tiguan L ePro plug-in hybrid models will hit the market by the end of May; and the Audi E7X, the second model from the premium EV brand AUDI, will open for pre-orders on May 8.
