Tesla employee Steve Pennewell posted a photo on the social media platform Threads showing the final Model X rolling off the Fremont factory line, its body covered in signatures from employees. The vehicle will be painted in "Pomegranate Red" and feature a center console plaque with a unique serial number, marking it as a collectible Model X Plaid commemorative edition. The Model S and Model X were once Tesla’s core products, serving as benchmarks in the global new energy vehicle market and playing a pivotal role in establishing the brand’s industry leadership. However, since the launches of the Model 3 and Model Y, sales of the S/X lineup have steadily declined, now accounting for only single-digit percentages of Tesla’s total annual deliveries. Data from 2025 shows that global deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y reached 1.6 million units, while combined deliveries of other models—including the Model S and Model X—amounted to approximately 50,000 units. With Tesla announcing plans to repurpose the Fremont factory for production of its Optimus humanoid robot, production of the Model S and Model X has officially come to an end.
