Tesla has officially ceased production of the Model X, with the final vehicle rolling off the assembly line at its Fremont, California factory. The car, adorned with signatures from employees, will be finished in an exclusive "Pomegranate Red" paint and feature a custom center console plaque, preserved as a limited-edition Model X Plaid Collector’s Edition. The Model X and Model S were Tesla’s early flagship models and played a pivotal role in establishing the brand’s premium image. However, following the launches of the Model 3 and Model Y, sales of the Model S and Model X have steadily declined. According to Tesla’s global delivery data for 2025, the Model 3 and Model Y together accounted for approximately 1.6 million deliveries, while other models—including the Model S and Model X—delivered only around 50,000 units, representing less than 10% of total deliveries. Tesla has decided to retool the Fremont production lines previously dedicated to the Model S and Model X for manufacturing its Optimus humanoid robots, marking the permanent end of mass production for these two flagship vehicles.
